Beautiful Fishing on the California Delta
Posted by: | Comments
A killer soundtrack and beautiful scenery makes this video by pro fishing guide Rus Snyders a lot of fun.
We normally present “instructive” videos here, but this one is so much fun that we just had to share it with you. It gets the juices flowing!
Rus shows us some of the lures he uses, and anyone who’s ever fished from a boat will glean some techniques and tips just from watching this.
We start this trip at sunset, on a small boat, floating onto the California Delta with some of Rus’s clients. The delta is up in the northern part of the state, between Sacramento and Stockton and includes about a thousand miles of winding waterways surrounded by picturesque landscapes.
As Rus wrote on the video’s description, he and his clients caught “big fish using a variety of different topwater lures. Lunker Punkers and Shell Crackers from Black Dog Baits, Zara Spooks, popper, hair jigs, and swimbaits.”
Rus and his paying customers managed to pull some beauties out of that delta water, as you’ll see in the video. Okay, yes, it’s essentially an ad for Rus’s fishing guide business (we were not paid to play this), but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable to watch. (The music at the beginning of the video, by the way, is “Doors of Perception” by Thievery Corporation.) Now, get out there and catch some of your own!

Bass Fishing Sweeping Method
Posted by: | CommentsJoin me on a little outing where I catch bass in a most unconventional way. I call it ‘Sweeping’ and in this episode of ‘Another Walk with Mike’ you’ll discover how exciting this method can be. I came up with the technique after having bass hit my buzz bait just as I was pulling it out of the water. Finally, after one such strike I pushed my pole back in the water and Bam! A method was born. Similiar to doodlesocking or jigger pole fishing, sweeping is best done from a kayak. Watch my video and see for yourself. It is as exciting as it can be. Also, enjoy my other wildlife walks and nature tour videos.
Salmon Fishing On Lake Michigan
Posted by: | CommentsSalmon Fishing On Lake Michigan
Lake Michigan is fantastic for Salmon fishing. Living in Chicago, and having an uncle with a boat, made it possible for me to have many happy memories of fishing with my father and great uncle. The lake is the third largest of all the North American Great Lakes, and the sixth largest lake in the entire world. Because of the lake’s depth, salmon thrive in its waters. On average the lake runs about 279 feet deep and, almost reaches 1000 feet in the deepest parts!Last year my great uncle passed away from cancer. I went to visit him before he died, and we remembered back to all the times that he had taken me salmon fishing on his boat. Going out on his boat is one of the most clear and happy memories that I have of childhood. Fishing is like that.My uncle had a large V-bottom boat with a below deck kitchen, sleeping area, and a small bathroom. I can’t remember the make or anything like that, but it sure was a blast to sail!
